Starting January, 2006 my family and I travelled to the country of South Africa where will be staying for the next year. We are working as volunteers at the "Lily of the Valley" Children's Center, which is a village for children affected by the enormous AIDS pandemic throughout the country, not to mention the continent. We also are working with the local Zulu people of the village of Mophela, helping them to develop small businesses. Stay tuned - I'll be updating this with pictures and stories regularly. Click here to go to the diary! HELP US TO HELP! The immediate need for the kids and the village people is the construction of a medical clinic. The nearest doctor is 8 miles away, he's overloaded with work, and these people have no transportation to get there. Imagine being sick and walking that far to get help. Check out the US website There you can learn more about the orphanage and make donations - or even sponsor a child (and the kids are really great!!) | ||||||
